first I want to precise that I have no idea if we would be welcome. I've just talked to some persons involved in the Apache Foundation.

Marc and I have already spoken privately about this but let me make this official. As the owner of Gargoyle Software and therefore the copyright holder of HtmlUnit, I am in favour of this. I am willing and ready to hand over the copyright to the Apache Foundation should they be willing to accept it.

I think this would be an excellent move for the project. The Apache brand is very well respected and it would add an extra layer of legitimacy to HtmlUnit if it were to be associated with them.
