Hi,
I wasn't going to write about this because I'm a really recent and limited user of HTMLUnit. But to increase the number of user opinions and lift Marc's spirit, here are my 2 cents: I think it would be very positive for HTMLUnit to be part of the Apache Fundation. It would gain attention for being part of Apache and could get feedback from the Apache comunity of developers and users. Also, the gained attention in Apache may increment usage of HTMLUnit in other Apache projects feeding even more users to the project. On the downside, it may require more overhead for the development cycle. But I don't see it as significant since a lot of Apache project have very active release cycles. And we may gain in organization and standarization of procedures.
Regards, Hernán

Hi,
I'm a bit surprised by the lack of answers. I see two possible explanations: - we have only one user (hi Tom) ;-( - or our users don't care at all about this issue
@Tom: as Ahmed said, I don't see any reason why we shouldn't be able to preserve our reaction time therefore I don't think that it would have any consequence on snapshots. It may look a bit differently on releases, but this is only a thought, not based on facts. Concerning Rhino, the situation has improved and we haven't currently any patch in our "fork". Nevertheless this fork allows us to decide when we want to release it and we don't need to wait for a new Rhino version. As said by Daniel, we could imagine to keep this fork as SF project.
Cheers, Marc.

Could you elaborate on this? Perhaps after talking to some guys from the Foundation. One of the great things about HtmlUnit is that you guys react very quickly to bug reports, new ideas and so on. I'd hate to see you lose that - and i think you'd find it frustrating.
- particularly, I don't know if/how we could keep our Rhino fork (that is currently only a snapshot but that allows to control the release dates)
Do you think the Rhino project's speed at incorporating bugfixes is likely to improve in the near future?
